Overview
The Project aims to increase the productivity and export readiness of women-led businesses from Belize, Dominica, Grenada, Jamaica, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines so that they can scale up, diversify and compete regionally and internationally. The Organization will train and provide grants for women-led enterprises to adopt green business practices and technology. It will also empower entrepreneurs to identify the most promising markets, including Canada, acquire knowledge and skills to meet technical requirements and participate in trade missions to generate new business opportunities. Ultimately, the Project will contribute to increased Caribbean women’s economic empowerment for sustainable economic growth.
The project seeks to increase productivity and job opportunities generated by Caribbean women entrepreneurs. Activities will include:
- Capacity building activities for the adoption of green business practices provided to women-led businesses;
- Capacity building activities for the adoption of technology in business provided to women-led businesses;
- Data collection and mapping conducted of women-led business and their issues in targeted countries;
- Technical assistance provided including technology audits to women-led businesses; and,
- Grant funding provided for technology adoption by women-led businesses.
Women-led businesses in selected sectors will be better able to identify and respond to Canadian market requirements and other international market requirements. Activities will include:
- Trade mission(s) to Canada to promote trade and business exchanges organized for women-led businesses;
- Launch to market program provided for women-led businesses;
- Market intelligence products for the Canadian market developed for women-led businesses; and,
- Capacity building programmes provided to meet technical requirements for the Canadian and other international markets
