Overview
The Improving the Ease of Starting a Business in the Caribbean project is a two-year initiative (2025-2026) funded by the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB). This project is designed to enhance the business registration process, integrate digital solutions, and improve customer service to create a more competitive and investor-friendly environment.
By reducing bureaucratic barriers and leveraging digital transformation, the initiative will streamline business registration, making it easier for entrepreneurs to start and operate businesses. This, in turn, will drive foreign direct investment (FDI) and support sustainable economic growth across the region.
The project focuses on three key areas:
-
- Capacity-Building Workshops – Business registry staff across all CDB Borrowing Member Countries (BMCs) will receive virtual customer service training to improve efficiency and responsiveness.
-
- Re-engineering Business Registration – St. Kitts and Nevis, Anguilla, British Virgin Islands, Montserrat, and Turks and Caicos Islands will undergo a full review and modernization of their business registration processes to enhance accessibility.
-
- Digital Transformation in St. Kitts and Nevis – As a pilot country, St. Kitts and Nevis will implement an online business registration one-stop shop, utilizing Information Communication Technology (ICT) solutions to simplify and accelerate the registration process.
By modernizing business registration and embracing digital innovation, this initiative is set to remove barriers to entrepreneurship and enhance service delivery. Entrepreneurs across the Caribbean will benefit from a faster, more efficient, and accessible process—creating a stronger foundation for economic growth and investment.
