Caribbean Export Development Agency Executive Director, Dr. Damie Sinanan, participated in the fourth edition of the International Business Conference (IBC 2026), held from 13–15 October at the Assuria Event Center in Paramaribo, Suriname.
Hosted by the Suriname-Guyana Chamber of Commerce (SGCC), with support from the Suriname Investment and Trade Agency (SITA), the conference brought together business leaders, policymakers and investment stakeholders to explore opportunities for expanding trade, investment and economic cooperation.
Dr. Sinanan contributed to an expert panel discussion entitled “Positioning the Suriname–Guyana Value Chain Globally,” which examined how Suriname and Guyana can strengthen business partnerships, scale local enterprises and expand their presence in international markets.

Discussions focused on addressing barriers to export growth, improving the ease of doing business and facilitating cross-border trade. Particular attention was given to strengthening regional transportation and logistics, enhancing export readiness and helping businesses meet international market standards.
Dr. Sinanan's participation reinforced Caribbean Export's commitment to building more competitive, export-ready businesses and strengthening regional value chains that can connect Caribbean enterprises to global opportunities.

During his visit, Dr. Sinanan also held a productive meeting with the Honourable Andrew Baasaron, Minister of Economic Affairs, Entrepreneurship and Technological Innovation of Suriname. The engagement provided an opportunity to explore future collaboration between Caribbean Export and the Government of Suriname, with a focus on initiatives to support the growth and international competitiveness of Surinamese businesses.
Caribbean Export looks forward to advancing these discussions and developing new partnerships that translate regional cooperation into tangible opportunities for businesses across Suriname and the wider Caribbean.
